Leila has grown up! Leila is a Squirrel Monkey. She lives indoors and is a very curious monkey. She loves to play with our dwarf cat “Persia” and sometimes her curiosity gets the best of her, and she gets in trouble! Marley was part of a wonderful occasion this passed Tuesday! He was part of a Birthday surprise! The look on the Birthday Girls face was priceless as she got to hug Marley and take many photos with him as well. Marley loved all the attention he got! Marley is our White Handed Gibbon Ape. The Zoological Wildlife Foundation would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! Marley and G the white handed gibbons, Gigi the Spider Monkey, Antoinette the Tufted Capuchin, Cyclone the Cougar, Leila the Squirrel Monkey, and our New Born Tiger Cub, were all a part of our Christmas Collage we made! Here is Leila our Squirrel Monkey, ready for Christmas! Leila hangs out with “G” the baby White Handed Gibbon and they play all day. Squirrel Monkeys are some of the most commonly seen monkeys in the Central American rainforest’s, even though they are very shy and skiddish. They average about 1 foot in length, with the their tails adding on another full foot. Squirrel monkeys weigh 1.5-2.5 lbs, and are diurnal, or active during the daytime. G is a White-Handed Gibbon and Leila is a Squirrel Monkey! They get daily interaction and playtime. They have became best buddies and are very intelligent. Leila is more noisy and she will let you know when she doesn’t like something with a loud screech. G is very mellow and really enjoys swinging around! White-handed gibbons brachiate, or swing by the arms, from branch to branch horizontally and vertically. Their long, strong arms enable them to quickly change direction in flight and to catch a handhold if they fall.

Halloween is around the corner and we wanted to sum up the week with all the photos of our baby primates in their costumes! Starting from the top we have: Marley and “G” the white handed gibbon apes. G and Leila had their Halloween outfits on this past Tuesday to celebrate Halloween a little early and to show off their clothes. Although you can’t see it in the photo above, “G” was wearing a soccer jersey for the photo. “G” is a baby white-handed gibbon, and is doing very well here at ZWF.
