Meet Marvin!

Marvin is a baby Red Kangaroo that just arrived at ZWF! He is doing great here so far! Marvin is a bit shy at first but he’s still settling in, im sure given some time he will be greeting people once he gets used to his new place! If you would like to visit Marvin then come by for a private tour at ZWF. Update on Demetrius our new Giant Anteater!

Demetrius, our new Giant Anteater is settling in to ZWF quite nicely! In the photo above, Demetrius is being held by his new best friend, Mario. Demetrius loves Mario, and will come up to him and let Mario carry him as well. He loves getting yogurt as a treat every now and then too! Watch ZWF’s Greater Grison in action!

Here’s a little info about Lesser Grisons:

The Lesser Grison (Spanish: Hurón Menor; Portuguese: Furão), Galictis cuja, is a mammal species of the ferret family Mustelidae from South America.[1] It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Peru, and Paraguay.

Lesser Grisons have a body length between 28 and 51 cms (11 - 20 inches), a tail length between 12 and 19 cms (4.7 - 7.5 inches) and they weigh between 1 and 2.5 kgs (2.2 - 5.5 lbs).

They have a long, slender body and short, stocky legs. They are grizzled grey in colour with a black underbody, face and legs.

Habitat
Lesser Grisons can be found in a variety of habitats in South America. They are usually found near water and they live in rocks, under tree roots or vacated burrows. They are usually solitary but can be found in small groups of 2 - 3 individuals.

Diet
Lesser Grisons mainly feed on small mammals, amphibians, birds, small reptiles, invertebrates , eggs and fruit.

Meet Noah the Liger!

Meet Noah! Our 4 month old male Liger! Noah weights about 75lbs right now, but he sure does have a LOT more growing to do. Here he is in this photo playing with our German Shepard “Apollo”. “Norman” the Limousin Steer!

ZWF welcomes Norman the Limousin Steer!

There isn’t a lot of information on Limousin Cattle, but one thing is certain, these animals get extremely HUGE! Norman is loving the time he is spending at ZWF, he roams around the facility very happily, and LOVES attention from humans. Keep checking back to watch Norman grow to his fullest potential, or just schedule a tour and visit him here at ZWF!
