Titan, our Bengal Tiger, was part of an attack scene this Wednesday that passed. He did an amazing job! The person in the photo with him is one of our trainers/handlers there with him. Since Titan is familiar with him, he was the stand in who filmed the scene with Titan. Marley was part of a wonderful occasion this passed Tuesday! He was part of a Birthday surprise! The look on the Birthday Girls face was priceless as she got to hug Marley and take many photos with him as well. Marley loved all the attention he got! Marley is our White Handed Gibbon Ape. We have a wide variety of wildlife at our facility and do tours by appointment. The great thing about our tours, is that you get to interact with the animals as part of the tour instead of just seeing them from afar. Aden, celebrated his 1st birthday here at The Zoological Wildlife Foundation! He had a Safari/Wildlife Themed event here and it was spectacular! There was games, food, pony rides, pinata, wild animals, face painting, a playground, and a bounce house! It was a wonderful birthday celebration, and the animals that attended made it that much more special as well. The MardiGras Casino has invited us to bring our animals every Wednesday of this month. We had photo sessions with our animals and the members of the casino as well. So far Nabha our tiger cub attended the event, as well as Marley our white-handed gibbon ape, and Donatella our tufted capuchin. Marley was having a little fun in his usual evening bath routine. Very oddly, he actually enjoys being in the water and taking his baths! Marley is our baby white-handed gibbon ape. Judy the Elephant was at Jungle Island for this Labor Day Weekend! In the Photo above she is enjoying a nice “bath” in the water. She was having fun splashing around and feeling the sand too! Judy is an Asian Elephant. Elephants are extremely intelligent animals and have memories that span many years. It is this memory that serves matriarchs well during dry seasons when they need to guide their herds, sometimes for tens of miles, to watering holes that they remember from the past. They also display signs of grief, joy, anger and play.

Recent discoveries have shown that elephants can communicate over long distances by producing a sub-sonic rumble that can travel over the ground faster than sound through air. Other elephants receive the messages through the sensitive skin on their feet and trunks. It is believed that this is how potential mates and social groups communicate.

On the 20th of August, The Zoological Wildlife Foundation was part of a wonderful “Quince” celebration at Jungle Island. We brought our two Lion Cubs and our Gibbon Ape (Marley) dressed in a Tux! The party was very nice and everyone enjoyed themselves and got a chance to take a photo with our cubs and Marley. The birthday girl also made her way into the ballroom holding our lion cub as her entrance to her party. Marley was also held in the entrance as well.
