Demetrius, our new Giant Anteater is settling in to ZWF quite nicely! In the photo above, Demetrius is being held by his new best friend, Mario. Demetrius loves Mario, and will come up to him and let Mario carry him as well. He loves getting yogurt as a treat every now and then too! Meet our newest addition, Demetrius the Giant Anteater! Demetrius is a new member of the ZWF family. The largest of four anteater species, the giant anteater may be five to seven feet long, from nose to tail, and weigh 40 to 100 pounds. It has a narrow head, long nose, small eyes, and round ears. Its coarse hair may be gray or brown, with a white-banded black stripe running along the body to mid-torso, and a long, bushy tail, which can be two to three feet long. Marley was having a little fun in his usual evening bath routine. Very oddly, he actually enjoys being in the water and taking his baths! Marley is our baby white-handed gibbon ape. Starting from left to right, we have Antoinette (Tufted Capuchin), Marley (White-Handed Gibbon Ape), Mojo (Spider Monkey), Philipe (Cinnamon White-Face Capuchin), and Francois (Cinnamon/Chocolate White-Faced Capuchin). All of these baby primates have outdoor playtime in their newly built Tiki Hut enclosure! They absolutely love playing in there and love to jump on top of people when they walk inside the enclosure! Here we have our two lion cubs Abu & Simba, being normal lions and sleeping! These are the two Kings of ZWF and they were taking their daily naps in our Monkey Nursery today. The Zoological Wildlife Foundation does private tours! We have many different packages to choose from. Our tours are done by appointment only, and what makes our tours so great is that the guests interact with our animals! Most or all of our animals here are handled on a daily basis and are used for educational presentations so they are used to getting handled and around people! Now isn’t this an odd animal pair! Here we have one of our lion cubs, playing with our baby mini dachshund! They play together most of the day, both of the lion cubs and our little dachshund. It’s nice to see different animal species getting along together! Although they play together for now, it should be known that when the cubs grow a little larger, unfortunately they will not be able to play together anymore, but in the meantime its a very cute thing to see! Marley decided to pick out his new blue jumpsuit to wear today. He loves jumping, sliding, running, and flopping about in our monkey nursery. He even plays with our baby tiger cub sometimes! Marley is growing more and more each day and STILL loves the camera, he is one of our Animal Actors! He will pose for photos, and always wants attention. Marley is our baby white-handed gibbon ape.
