Photos to Share from Past Moroccan Event - 10/23/11

Monday, April 2nd, 2012

The Zoological Wildlife Foundation was part of a Moroccan inspired Event on October 23rd, 2011. This was a birthday celebration, as well as a celebration for cancer survival. We brought Our Tufted Capuchin (Angie), and our Young Dromedary Camel (Aladdin). Teresita, who booked us for this event, wanted to share these wonderful photos she had from the event. We made a gallery with all the photos included, and we wanted to blog the photos to share them with everyone. Thank you Teresita, we are so glad that you were happy with the outcome of the event and thank you for sharing these wonderful photos with us as well! As we previously blogged before, we just finished building a beautiful new enclosure for our Lions here at The Zoological Wildlife Foundation. We would like to thank Amber & Duane, as well as Candy and Sean Patel for contributing to the making of this enclosure. They truly made our lions lives that much more enjoyable by creating this wonderful large enclosure for them to live in. All of us here at ZWF truly thank you all for your helping hand in this! We really appreciate your concern and care for these animals. Thank you once again to Sean & Candy Patel, and Amber & Duane!

Donna’s “Photoshoot”!

Thursday, March 29th, 2012

Donnatella, our Tufted Capuchin, had a little “photo-shoot” today. This was a fun activity for both her and us! We captured many beautiful photos of her, and at the same time, she was just being herself, exploring and acting like a silly primate! We used her natural abilities and took photos of her in different areas of our facility. Donna is such a beautiful and smart Capuchin. She had a great time just being herself and we had fun catching these moments on camera. To view more photos of Donna, then please visit Donna’s Gallery.

Indah The Binturong And Her Outdoor Experience!

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

Indah, our new baby Binturong, went outside for some outdoor exploring/playtime. She was a bit timid at first when she felt the long grass with her little claws, but after a while she got used to her surroundings and explored for a little. She really enjoyed laying in one of her favorite blankets, and just feeling the outdoor breeze as she tried to take a nap. She is such an adorable animal! To view more photos of her, then please visit Indah’s Gallery.

Update on Big Bird, The Cassowary Bird!

Thursday, March 22nd, 2012

Big Bird is our Cassowary Bird, and has grown since the last time we blogged his arrival! If you see his previous photos when he had arrived here, you will notice that he did not have that casque on top of his head yet. A casque is a gray, helmet-like growth of tough, rigid yet elastic skin. This is one of its most distinguishing features and what gave the bird its name - in Papuan, ‘Kasu-weri’ means ‘horned head’. Dominant birds generally have larger casques. When the bird runs, it lowers its head and uses the casque as a sort of battering-ram to clear out everything in its path. To view more photos of Big Bird, then please visit Big Bird’s Gallery.

Update On Lola The King Vulture!

Thursday, March 22nd, 2012

Lola, our King Vulture, is doing fantastic in her beautiful and new enclosure! She shares her enclosure with Sid & Susie the Sloths, and Demetrius the Giant Anteater. Lola the King Vulture has no toes from frost bite when she was just a young bird, but she moves around constantly in her new enclosure and has no problem getting around from the floor to the perches! To view more photos of Lola, then please visit Lola’s Gallery.

Newly Built Enclosure For Our Lions!

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012

We recently finished building a brand new enclosure for our Lions “Abu & Simba”. Abu & Simba shared their old enclosure with our Snow Tiger “Nabha”. Well, between the three of them, they definitely outgrew that cage! We are still not fully done with the cage, as it needs some more work and additional modifications to it, but it looks like all three of the cats are sure enjoying the enclosure as is. They haven’t stopped running with all the new space they have! We will post a video up soon too, so keep checking back! To view more photos of Abu & Simba, then Visit Abu & Simba’s Gallery, or to view more photos of Nabha the tiger then visit Nabha’s Gallery.
