Sneak Attack!

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

Padah is our (Red Tabby) Bengal Tiger Cub. As you can see in this photo, she was very focused in on sneaking up on me and pouncing on me! Of course this is just her way of playing and is also her natural instincts of her just being a usual Big Cat. She shares a large enclosure with our other Tiger Cub “Shanti”. You can meet Padah in person on a private tour here at our facility! Check out our Tours Page for more info.

Javi & Penelope!

Monday, April 2nd, 2012

Javi and Penelope are Red Ruffed Lemurs. They are both full grown adults. We have raised them since they were very young and they are extremely sweet animals. They are usually everyone’s favorite animal on our private tours (other than our cubs). When we have our tours, we take people inside their enclosure, and Javi and Penelope will leap into your arms! They expect you to carry them and they will lick you in return. It is a wonderful experience being around these guys, and they are truly beautiful and loving creatures. To view more updated photos of Javi & Penelope, then please visit Javi & Penelope’s Gallery.

Donna’s “Photoshoot”!

Thursday, March 29th, 2012

Donnatella, our Tufted Capuchin, had a little “photo-shoot” today. This was a fun activity for both her and us! We captured many beautiful photos of her, and at the same time, she was just being herself, exploring and acting like a silly primate! We used her natural abilities and took photos of her in different areas of our facility. Donna is such a beautiful and smart Capuchin. She had a great time just being herself and we had fun catching these moments on camera. To view more photos of Donna, then please visit Donna’s Gallery.

The Zoological Wildlife Foundation, was on set at Univision for their filming of “El Gordo Y La Flaca”. We brought along our Kangaroo as part of a surprise for their show! Our Kangaroo is named “Marvin” and everyone absolutely loved him. Marvin was a star on the show and got so much attention. He was there for a short amount of time and later went right back to his large enclosed area at our foundation. The photos above were taken with the hosts of the show and our Kangaroo “Marvin”. Indah The Binturong And Her Outdoor Experience!

Friday, March 23rd, 2012

Indah, our new baby Binturong, went outside for some outdoor exploring/playtime. She was a bit timid at first when she felt the long grass with her little claws, but after a while she got used to her surroundings and explored for a little. She really enjoyed laying in one of her favorite blankets, and just feeling the outdoor breeze as she tried to take a nap. She is such an adorable animal! To view more photos of her, then please visit Indah’s Gallery.

Update on Big Bird, The Cassowary Bird!

Thursday, March 22nd, 2012

Big Bird is our Cassowary Bird, and has grown since the last time we blogged his arrival! If you see his previous photos when he had arrived here, you will notice that he did not have that casque on top of his head yet. A casque is a gray, helmet-like growth of tough, rigid yet elastic skin. This is one of its most distinguishing features and what gave the bird its name - in Papuan, ‘Kasu-weri’ means ‘horned head’. Dominant birds generally have larger casques. When the bird runs, it lowers its head and uses the casque as a sort of battering-ram to clear out everything in its path. To view more photos of Big Bird, then please visit Big Bird’s Gallery.
