Some beautiful ZWF photos to enjoy!

Monday, October 10th, 2011

Here are some lovely animal photos taken here at ZWF by Jim Winters of NikonMiami. The above photos are of one of our Hairy Armadillos, and our new Cougar Cub, Cyclone! We have a wide variety of wildlife at our facility and do tours by appointment. The great thing about our tours, is that you get to interact with the animals as part of the tour instead of just seeing them from afar. Animals always put a smile to anyone’s face, and a private tour here with our wildlife is an amazing experience. To learn more about the tours we do then visit our Tours Page for more info.

ZWF’s Newest Addition!

Friday, October 7th, 2011

Meet Cyclone the Cougar Cub!  Cyclone just arrived at ZWF and he is settling in perfectly! He is full of energy and loves to play with you as soon as you walk into the room. Cougars are great jumpers.  They cat leap vertically over 16 feet, and horizontally more than 45 feet. The head of the cat is round and the ears erect. Its powerful forequarters, neck, and jaw serve to grasp and hold large prey. It has five retractable claws on its fore paws (one a dewclaw) and four on its hind paws. The larger front feet and claws are adaptations to clutching prey. Cyclone is going to grow up to be one very powerful animal. Keep checking back to see how Cyclone is doing! To view more photos of him, then visit Cyclone’s Gallery!
